Priest Lake - Thorofare

Thorofare
Thorofare
The Thorofare is a long, narrow channel that connects upper and lower Priest Lakes. If one determines to make the trek, he will need a spotter on the bow. Entrance into the Thorofare is extremely shallow, as low as 3 feet, possibly less. We were there on a high water year. I doubt we could have made it in on a low water year. Once in, is was manageable, as long as the spotter is there to direct around old snags, rocks and shoals.

Wildlife is quite abundant here which is best viewed early in the morning. We saw a moose and some turtles and many types of birds. It is really quite beautiful and peaceful.
