Priest Lake - Eight Mile Island

Eight Mile Island
Eight Mile Island
There is a point of interest on eight Mile Island. There is an old cabin that was a homestead. Its lease ran out and the family maintains the property. There is a museum that is open Wednesday - Sunday. Family members occupy the cabin and maintain the site.

We were not there on the day the museum was open, but were able to go for a hike to the top of the island. The island is quite forested, so even though you are at the top, you cannot see any far away vistas. But, the forest is beautiful in itself.

One of the coolest things about this island is the narrow S curved channel between the island and the mainland. Is is quite deep, but you'll want to go slow just in case.
