Priest Lake - Blue Diamond Marina
|
|
Blue Diamond Marina is the nicest full service marina on the lake. The owners, Doug and Carolyn,
are very accommodating. The marina offers overnight moorage, which in our case was a side tie to
the end dock. Most all of the slips are covered. The side tie was fine during the week, but proved to
be a rough spot on the weekend when there was a lot of boat traffic. There is no breakwater, so the
dock takes the brunt of the wave action. Not a good spot for the queezy. The marina has shower facilities,
a pump out station and an upscale restaurant. It is clean and kept up well. There is no fuel available here,
but it is available at Cavannaugh's, just a skip across bay.
Blue Diamond also has guest accommodations that can be rented by the day. The units accomodate between 2 and 6
people. Boat rentals are also available.
There is a launching ramp here, but it is undesirable for sailboats, as there is little, if any, room for
set up or vehicle storage. There is a sharp turn around getting down to the ramp.
Just a touch of history: Blue Diamond Marina is what is left of the Blue Diamond Match Factory
built in the early 1900s. Their "barn," which is currently a boat storage area, was part of that facility.
Blue Diamond Marina is a "must see" when you visit.
