Priest Lake - Bartoo Island

Bartoo Island Bartoo island offers on-shore camping for those of you who need some extended time off the boat. There is one campground listed on the map on the southeastern side of the island.

When catching a mooring bouy on Bartoo or Kalispell Islands, keep in mind the prevailing winds come from the south during the day and they shift in the night and come from the north. That is, unless there is a storm from the south. We caught a southern bouy and were bounced around all night. One of the locals disputed the information we were given and claims the winds almost always come from the south. A storm may bring in some northern winds.

Guess you'll have to figure this on out on your own. :-)

There are moorning bouys and some potential anchoring spots at various spots around the island. The following two GPS coordinates are near mooring bouys:

East side of Bartoo Island
N 48 degrees 33.052 minutes
W 116 degrees 51.957 minutes

North side of Bartoo Island (2 bouys)
N 48 degrees 32.834 minutes
W 116 degrees 52.832 minutes
