Lake Pend Oreille - Whiskey Rock

Whiskey Rock
Back from a hike at Whiskey Rock
Whiskey Rock is a delightful place. It is located midway up the east side of the lake and is a great place to spend some time "off the boat," whether it be hiking on its many trails, or swimming on its sandy beach.

The last time we visited Whiskey Rock, there were 2 mooring buoys. We were going to spend the night on one, but a spot opened up on the nearby dock. This is the place we realized how nice the boaters are on Lake Pend Oreille. Several were out on the dock to help us as we approached. After tying up, we were greeted with by several people who offered their barbecue for us to use for our dinner.

Later on we took a hike up the mountainside. We hoped to get a good photo of the cove, but the forest is quite thick, so this didn't happen. The photo at the left is the best we could do.

Whiskey Rock is a good place to stop for lunch, or overnight. As with most spots on the lake, be careful if storms are brewing. If storms approach from the NW, Whiskey Rock can be rocking and rolling with little protection.
