Lucky Peak - Charcoal Creek

Sunset at Charcoal Creek This is by far my favorite place on the lake for over night camping. Kelli would not agree with this "public statement" because she wants to keep this "our little secret."

The cove is quite long, so it gets you away from a lot of the traffic on the lake. Wind can be an issue, as the cove points NW which is where the prevailing wind comes from. This is especially important the further you get back in the cove as your maneuvering room gets quite small.

There are only two docks in the cove, the farthest one back being the most secluded. With the reservoir at full pool, there is only about 5 feet of water under the hull at this particular dock. The other dock has quite a bit more water under it, but we prefer to take the more secluded dock and lift the center board and rudder if we need to.

Both docks have covered picnic tables, but there are no toilet facilities, other than what the Lord provides with all the bushes.

I will warn you ahead of time, if you ask Kelli, she will encourage you to camp elsewhere.
